The difference between a called off fixture and a game that gets played.
The Bowcom Bowdry MKIII is a surface water removal roller that collects up to 60 litres of standing water per minute, clearing a waterlogged pitch so the match can go ahead.

Every club secretary knows the Sunday morning phone call. Standing water on the pitch, referee on his way, forty players and parents waiting on a decision.

The Bowdry gives you an answer other than no. Roll it across the affected area, the high density foam roller absorbs the water and the integrated tank collects it, ready to be emptied through the side valve.

The foam is designed to lift water without damaging the turf, so you are not trading a playable pitch today for a ruined surface next month.

The MKIII generation adds a wider roller, a stronger and more ergonomic handle and mounting chassis, and a higher density moulded construction. It is lighter to push and easier to store than you would expect.

It arrives ready for use. Unpack it, slide the handle on and go. There is no assembly to work out in the rain.

The original Bowdry was awarded Millennium Product status by the British Design Council, which tells you this is a considered piece of engineering rather than a bucket with wheels.

Mike Phelan spent a career in a game where fixtures have to be played and pitches have to be ready. For grassroots clubs and schools, having a Bowdry in the shed can be the difference between a season on schedule and a fixture backlog.

Frequently asked questions

How much water does the Bowdry remove?
Up to 60 litres per minute. That makes it practical to clear standing water from goalmouths, penalty areas or full pitch sections before a fixture.

Will it damage the pitch?
No. The high density foam roller is designed to absorb surface water without tearing or compacting the turf.

Does it need assembling?
No. The Bowdry MKIII is delivered ready for use. Unpack it, slide the handle on and start work.

How do I empty the water?
The integrated storage tank drains through a valve located on the side panel, so you can empty it at the edge of the pitch and carry on.

Can one person operate it?
Yes. It is light and strong, and the ergonomic handle and chassis on the MKIII make it simpler to push, transport and store than earlier models.

Is it worth it for a grassroots club?
If postponed fixtures cost you referee fees, pitch hire or a congested end of season, one saved match day can justify it. Many clubs and schools share one across a site.
