Coaches Notes

Start lower than you think. Six inches is plenty for most groups, and the quality of the contact with the ground matters far more than how high a player gets. Quiet, quick feet are the target.

Space the hurdles about one stride apart for rhythm work, then close the gaps for faster foot contacts. Keep reps short, five or six seconds, with full recovery, so players practise moving quickly rather than practising moving tired.

Finish each run with a five-yard sprint or a ball at the end, so the footwork links straight into something that looks like football.

Assembly & care

Place the hurdles on a flat, clear surface at the spacing your drill requires.

Start with slower, controlled movements before building to full speed.

If a hurdle is knocked over, reset it before the next repetition.

Stack the hurdles after use and store in a dry place.

Check hurdles for cracks or damage before each session and replace any that are damaged.

Hurdles that take a knock and bounce back.
For grassroots coaches building quick feet into every session, the Precision Football Hurdles are a set of six 6in (15cm) agility hurdles that survive a full season of drills.

Each hurdle is light and flexible. When a player clips one, it bends and springs straight back into shape, so the session keeps moving and younger players are far less likely to trip over a rigid bar.

Six hurdles give you one full agility line or two shorter stations. Start with two-footed hops to build rhythm, then progress to single leg hops and lateral steps as players grow in confidence.

Set them out on grass, 3G or the sports hall floor, then stack them together and drop them in the kit bag at the final whistle. Pair them with an agility ladder and a few cones and you have a complete speed circuit for the warm-up.

FAQs

How high are these football hurdles?
Each hurdle is 6in (15cm) high and 19in (48cm) wide. That height suits footwork, stride frequency and introductory hop drills for most age groups.
Are these hurdles safe for children?
The hurdles are flexible, so if a player clips one it bends and returns to shape rather than staying rigid. Always supervise younger players and set the hurdles on a flat, clear surface.
How many hurdles are in the set?
Six. That is enough for one full agility line or two shorter stations running side by side.
What drills can I use agility hurdles for?
Two-footed hops, single leg hops, high knees, lateral steps and short acceleration runs. They also pair well with an agility ladder in a speed circuit.
Can the hurdles be used indoors?
Yes. They work on grass, 3G and indoor sports hall floors.
